Building Bridges and Community
After a year that stressed our society profoundly exposing its vulnerabilities and fractured relationships, I’m interested in how we can grow resilience in our community. In response to that question, I am creating 250 hand-printed, 4”x6”  linocut postcards of different bridges for individuals in local and virtual communities to send out to people to help build and heal relationships that have fallen apart over differences. Each postcard packet will include one pre-stamped postcard and one bridge print (for the sender) with a bridge and the words “Building Bridges and Community” on it as a symbol/reminder of the bridges they are building within their community. If you are interested in receiving a postcard to send to someone in your community or family you'd like to re-connect with, click on the button below, fill out the form, and a postcard (plus art for you) will be sent to you. This project was funded by a Northeast RSDP-Rapid Response Grant.

Sustainable Saints
I've started a side project of printing sustainable "saints" or "icons". I don't want to make any money from this project as I want these images to go out into the world as a reminder to all of us to Act, so with that said, in purchasing this art, you're actually paying for its listing price (from etsy $.20) and its postage to your door.
Check them out if you're interested in my etsy shop.

Friends making postcard art for your mailbox

Friends making postcard art for your mailbox, Again.
In 2017 and 2020, Ihrke collaborated with Grete Howland to create original linocut postcards (printed by Ihrke) that corresponded with a poem Howland wrote on the back. This piece of art was sent through the USPS around the world to individuals who subscribed to their project through kickstarter.

2020 Reflection Projects

In 2020, participants of the reflection projects were asked to reflect on a moment in time during the pandemic. This personal reflection was then transcribed on a postcard holding images of Ihrke's own reflections from that time period. This project was done twice, once in the spring and once in the winter.

Get out the Vote

In both Vermont and Minnesota, Ihrke has carved, printed, and given away up-cycled Vote t-shirts on college campuses, encouraging voter turn out. In 2018, with a baby strapped to her she hand printed t-shirts while students registered to vote.
