While invasive species can bring beauty and color to fringe, wild spaces, invasive species are species that are not native to Minnesota and cause economic, social, or environmental harm, or harm to human health. This new art series aims to familiarize people of local invasive plant species in their backyard through linocut images and then encourages them to rip them out.
Join me May 16th from 4-6pm for an Opening Reception at Hartley Nature Center.

Take a peak at the prints! Each print was made by hand with one block of linoleum. Through the labor intensive use of relief printing, I offer great care carving each flower. Through the use of bold lines, textures, and layered color, each print acknowledges my own human interaction with the invasive plant. Layers of color built up create the image. Between each layer of color, I carve out more linoleum. It's a process that takes time and care. Enjoy!
